What we treat Neck and headaches
Cervical Arthritis
Cervical arthritis, also known as cervical spondylosis, involves the age-related wear and tear of the spinal discs in your neck. As we age our discs start to dehydrate and shrink, and small bony projections called osteophytes can start to form along the edges of bones. This condition is extremely common and worsens over time, often resulting in chronic neck pain and stiffness.
Common Symptoms
Reduced range of motion in the neck, often accompanied by a grinding sensation when turning the head, typically worsening after periods of inactivity.
Numbness, tingling, or weakness that radiates from the neck into the shoulders, arms, or hands due to nerve compression in the cervical spine.
Persistent tension-type headaches originating from the base of the skull, often referred to as cervicogenic headaches, linked to neck joint inflammation.
How We Treat It with Physical Therapy
Our clinical approach to treating cervical arthritis focuses on restoration and peak movement. We utilize precise manual therapy techniques, including joint mobilization, muscle energy techniques, and soft tissue release, to reduce stiffness and improve circulation. Therapeutic cervical traction and targeted postural correction strategies are integrated into every session to alleviate pressure on spinal nerves and reinforce sustainable, pain-free movement patterns for long-term health.
