What we treat Elbow

Distal Bicep Tendinitis

Understanding the injury

Distal bicep tendinitis is an inflammatory condition affecting the tendon that attaches your bicep muscle to the radius bone in your forearm at the elbow crease. It often develops from repetitive lifting, pulling, or sports activities, leading to micro-tears and irritation that can cause persistent pain and decreased arm strength.

Common Symptoms

Deep, aching pain located specifically in the front of the elbow where the bicep tendon attaches.

Difficulty twisting a screwdriver, opening jars, or lifting objects due to significant loss of strength.

⚠️

Visible swelling or bruising and acute tenderness when touching the bicep tendon near the joint.

THE EVALUATION

How Physical Therapy Diagnoses It

Diagnosis begins with a comprehensive clinical examination. Our specialist therapists perform specific orthopedic tests to assess the distal bicep tendon's integrity and irritability. We analyze your movement patterns, strength, and range of motion to determine the exact degree of tendinopathy, ensuring a diagnosis rooted in clinical precision rather than just symptoms.

A Multidisciplinary Approach to Lasting Tendon Health

We move beyond simple symptom management. Our specialized treatment protocol for distal bicep tendinitis combines targeted manual therapy, precision loading programs, and activity modification to ensure your elbow can handle the demands of your unique lifestyle and sport.

Starting Exercises

Gently push your wrist up into your other hand without moving the elbow. Hold for 10 seconds.

Rest your elbow on a table and rotate your palm towards the ceiling until a mild stretch is felt.

Use your good hand to lift a light weight, then lower it slowly with the affected arm over 4 seconds.

Use a small ball or your thumb to apply gentle pressure to the bicep tendon area just above the elbow.
