What we treat Neck and headaches

Whiplash

Whiplash is a neck injury that occurs when the head is suddenly jerked forward and then backward. This rapid force causes the soft tissues (muscles, ligaments, and tendons) in the neck to stretch and move beyond their normal range of motion.

Commonly associated with motor vehicle accidents, whiplash can also result from sports injuries or falls. The injury often involves the joints, discs, and nerves, leading to pain and restricted mobility that requires professional rehabilitation.

Persistent aching in the neck that often worsens with movement, leading to a significantly reduced range of motion.

Common Symptoms

Frequent headaches starting at the base of the skull, often radiating towards the forehead or behind the eyes.

Pain, tingling, or numbness that spreads into the shoulders, upper back, or arms, indicating nerve involvement.

  • Joint mobilization to restore cervical spine mechanics.
  • Soft tissue releases to alleviate protective muscle guarding.

Specialized Recovery Paths

Whiplash recovery requires a nuanced approach that addresses both acute pain and underlying mechanical dysfunction. Our specialized techniques are designed to restore mobility, reduce inflammation, and prevent long-term chronic symptoms.

  • Targeted trigger point release for deep neck extensors.
  • Neuromuscular reset to decrease central sensitization and pain.

Exercises to Start With

Chin Tucks - Gently draw your chin straight back, as if making a double chin. Hold for 5 seconds and repeat 10 times to strengthen deep neck flexors.

Cervical rotation - Slowly turn your head toward one shoulder as far as comfortable. Return to center and repeat on the other side. Do 5-10 repetitions per side.

Scap Squeeze - Squeeze your shoulder blades together and down towards your back pockets. Hold for 5 seconds. Repeat 10 times to improve posture and reduce neck strain.
